Rite of Passage

Rite of Passage was influenced by an article written by Barbra Clara Khayongo in the Ugandan 'Community Dialogue' magazine in 2009.
Women gave testimony to their experiences of female circumcision believed to be a way of preserving chastity. The ritual enables acceptance from both men and women in their community.
Though entrenched in cultural practices Parliament has passed legislation to outlaw this ritual.
