‘I feel I am, I only know that I am that’s all.’
This statement from an Alzheimer sufferer on BBC radio 3 “Secret Theatre of the Mind” presented by Michael Ignatiff influenced my work. I used wax for this sculpture as it is part of the ‘lost wax process’ and has a melting capacity that Freud used as a metaphor for traces of memory.
The ziggurat formation represents the temple of the mind with traces of statements from other sufferers.
